Friendship Garden to have big event May 27; volunteers sought

Friendship Garden is a new community garden being built by a group of community partners that includes members of New Concord United Methodist Church, College Drive Presbyterian Church, and other local businesses. The garden is located on the corner of Layton Drive and Cherry Lane on property donated by Muskingum University.

Our mission is…to provide a garden in the New Concord community where neighbors can grow and nourish one another physically and spiritually.

We are conducting a fundraiser to raise money to build raised beds, a fence and a shed.

We plan on offering garden space for individual families as well as a group gardening space to be used for educational purposes, community involvement and to grow produce to donate to the New Concord Food Pantry.

May 27 at 9 a.m. we will be hosting our first big event at the garden. We’ll need volunteers to help put it all together. We’ll have hot dogs and live music at lunch and a day filled with opportunities to meet all of our community partners and find out how everyone can be involved in this community asset.

Please direct any questions to Heather Coen – HEATHERCOEN@YAHOO.COM, or like us on Facebook at New Concord Friendship Garden.

Our mission is to make and develop disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
